USFWSNational Wetlands Inventory


NWI digital data files are records of wetlands location and classification as developed by the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service. The classification system was adopted as a national classification standard in 1996 by the Federal Geographic Data Committee.

Download Seamless MS Statewide Wetlands Data shapefile:

With each download you will receive a .zip file that contains the following layers:

  • NWI wetland polygon data
  • NWI riparian polygon data (if available at the requested location)
  • Metadata ( NWI project metadata including image dates used for delineation)

State data downloaded will be in Albers projection with a North American Datum (NAD) of 1983.
